The Vienna Musikverein (Vienna Music Association) building (1870) is a concert house steeped in tradition, with daily concerts. This building is home to the famous “Große Musikvereinssaal” (or “Goldene Saal” = Golden Hall), which is considered to be one of the most beautiful halls with the best acoustics in the world. The hall is famous for the annual TV broadcast of the New Year’s Concert performed by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. The special acoustics are created by the cavity beneath the floor. The architect was Theophil Hansen (Parliament).
